OnePlus 5 global launch today: Launch event, Price, Design, Specs and every detail you should know

The wait is finally going to be over as there are just a few hours left before the launch of the highly anticipated OnePlus 5 smartphone. The details about the smartphone have been coming up regularly, some through the leaks and some confirmed by the company itself, creating a huge hype about the smartphone. Though there is not much left unknown about the OnePlus 5, there are still a few key aspects that’ll be unveiled during the launch only. So with a few hours left for the launch, let’s have a peek at all that we know so far about the OnePlus 5 and try to gaze what the smartphone will be like.

Design

The design of OnePlus 5 has been one of the most debatable points. While earlier leaks suggested that the smartphone will hold a vertically aligned dual rear camera set up, it has now been confirmed that dual camera is horizontally aligned. The design of the smartphone is more like the iPhone 7 Plus from Apple where the dual rear camera setup is placed on the top right corner accompanied with a dual LED flash.

The smartphone in its recently released teaser can been seen in black color, holding a horizontally aligned dual rear camera setup along with LED flash. OnePlus 5 is also said to be the slimmest flagship smartphone ever so we surely know that the smartphone is going to be slim compared to its predecessor.

Specifications

As far as the specifications are concerned, we all know that OnePlus 5 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor as confirmed by the company. Apart from the processor, other specification details have also been surfaced up on various occasions. The OnePlus 5 is said to sport a 5.5-inch 1080p touchscreen with support for the DCI-P3 color space.

Another fact that leaks indicate is that the smartphone is coming in two variants, i.e. with 6 GB and 8 GB RAM. In terms of storage, the phone has been listed to come with either 64 GB or 128 GB of UFS 2.1 storage. The smartphone will be running on OxygenOS based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The device will pack a 3,300 mAh battery with Dash Charge, capable of taking the device from 0 to 92% of charge in just one hour. OnePlus 5 is also said to come with NFC and Bluetooth 5.0 similar to that of Galaxy S8. The fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button will unlock the smartphone in mere 0.2 seconds.

Camera

The company had already announced its partnership with DxO to develop the camera of OnePlus 5, where it is also claimed that the OnePlus 5 will have the best smartphone camera. Just like the specifications, camera details of the smartphone have also been leaked a number of times. The latest leak suggest that OnePlus 5 with sport two rear sensors at the back, one main 16-megapixel Sony sensor with f/1.7 aperture and another 20-megapixel Sony telephoto lens with f/2.6 aperture. At the front, the company also notes that there is a portrait mode, and that 80 percent of the camera’s success is because of the work put into its software, and that this will be the differentiating factor for the smartphone.

Expected Price

Finally going towards the price, in an earlier leak it was reported that the 6 GB RAM variant will be priced at Rs. 32,999 whereas the 8 GB RAM variant will come with a price tag of Rs. 37,999. However, there were also separate reports where the price seems to be more feasible, which will start from $479 (roughly Rs. 30,800). That being said, further more rumours indicated the price starting from Rs. 32,999 which cements the fact eventually. Also, the smartphone will be Amazon India exclusive.
