Nokia 6 (2018) with 5.5 inch FHD display, Snapdragon 630, 16MP & 8MP Dual-Sight cameras officially announced

Nokia has announced the arrival of the much awaited second generation of Nokia 6 today in China. The Nokia 6 (2018) version has been made available to the domestic market in China in two color variants of Black and Silver. And depending on the memory configuration, the Nokia 6 is priced at CNY 1499 (Rs. 14,655 approx.) for the 32 GB variant, while the 64 GB variant costing CNY 1699 (Rs. 16,610 approx.). In China, it’s available for pre-orders on Suning and as for the retail market, the Nokia (2018) goes on sale from the 10th of January. But, as for the global market, no official announcements have been made regarding the phone’s launch dates or pricing.

Nokia, with it’s the latest offering of the second generation Nokia 6, has managed to bring out a good product and most likely will make its presence felt in the mid-range smartphone market. Talking about the specifications of the Nokia 6 (2018), the phone is equipped with a 5.5-inch FHD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display with 403 PPI pixel density, 16:9 aspect ratio with 2.5D curved glass and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. For computing, the phone relies on a 2.2 GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 630 SoC with 14nm process accompanied by an Adreno 508 GPU.

For memory, the Nokia 6 comes with a 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM, backed by (as mentioned earlier) either a 32 GB or 64 GB internal memory space. Nokia 6 which is a hybrid dual SIM phone has been provided with an option to expand the storage space via microSD for up to 128 GB. It is equipped with a 16 MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, PDAF, 1.0um pixel size, f/2.0 aperture and an 8 MP front-facing camera, 1.12-pixel size, f/2.0 aperture and 84° wide-angle lens. For the second generation Nokia 6, the cameras come with Dual-Sight technology which allows the users to make use of both the front and the rear cameras simultaneously. Considering it’s already 2018, it’s pretty disappointing that, upon purchase, the phone will run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, but in due time will receive an Android 8.0 Oreo update as promised by the manufacturer.

Talking about the physical attributes of the smartphone, the phone has a metal unibody design created out of 6000 series Aluminum. The phone weighs 172 gms and has dimensions of 148.8 × 75.8 × 8.15-8.6mm. Within its chassis, the smartphone harbors a 3,000 mAh non-removable Li-on battery with fast charging technology that charges the phone up to 50% of battery capacity within 30 minutes. The Nokia 6 (2018) makes use of 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 5, GPS, USB Type-C for connectivity and is also equipped with a fingerprint scanner, which is mounted on the rear side, just below the camera.
