Motorola’s Moto Z and Moto Z Force with Snapdragon 820 SoC and modular ‘Moto Mods’ accessories announced

Along with the PHAB 2 series smartphones, Lenovo has also launched the Motorola’s much-anticipated Moto Z and Moto Z Force smartphones at the Tech World 2016 event in San Francisco,USA. The modular smartphones will be available globally from September.

Both the Moto Z and Moto Z Force will compatible with Moto Mods accessories such as JBL SoundBoost, the Moto Insta-Share Projector (to deliver a 70-inch projector experience), and the Power Pack (to provide up to 22 hours of additional battery life). They will also come with style shells and offer finishes like real wood, leather, and fabric.

The Moto Z and Moto Z Force flaunt a 5.5-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) AMOLED display with pixel density of 535 ppi and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass display. Under the hood, they both have a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, clubbed with Adreno 530 and GPU and 4GB LPDDR4 RAM. They will be offered in 32GB / 64GB storage variant, expandable up to 2TB with microSD and run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

On the photography front, the Moto Z sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, OIS, Laser Autofocus, 1.12um pixel, f/1.8 aperture. Whereas, the Moto Z Force houses a 21-megapixel rear camera with OIS, Laser Autofocus, f/1.8 aperture. Both the smartphones bear a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, f/2.2 aperture and also include a fingerprint sensor.

Both the Moto Z and Moto Z force have ditched the 3.5mm jack, and now use USB-C port for headphones. The Moto Z is packed with a 2600mAh battery with Turbo-charging, while the Moto Z Force is backed by a larger 3,500mAh battery. Connectivity options on these smartphones include 4G LTE (Cat 9) / 3G, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac 2.4 GHz + 5 GHz with MIMO. However, there is no word on their pricing details yet.
