Lenovo-owned Motorola had recently launched the Moto Z2 Play on 2nd June, Friday. The smartphone was launched in US and is by far scheduled to go on sale there only with no clue of its availability in India. However, the company has now announced that the smartphone will be up for pre-orders in India starting from 8th June. There is still no word regarding the launch of the smartphone but it is highly expected that the company will do so on the same date.
Motorola has been tweeting since last few days regarding the pre-booking of Moto Z2 Play. The recent tweet of the company reads, “Bid Goodbye to a bulky phone & Say Hello to re-defined sleekness on the #MotoZ2Play!”. Motorola has also released a video teasers of the smartphone which at the end says that, “Moto Z2 Play will be available for pre-order at a store near you from 8th June”, which certainly means that the smartphone will be available via offline means as well.
Apart from the pre-booking announcement, the company also mentioned special pre-booking offers which include Moto Mods, Moto Armour and 10 months EMI on 0% interest. The buyers will get a provision to pre-book the smartphone for Rs. 2000, and the remaining amount can be paid in 10 months at 0% interest. Also the pre-booked smartphone will come bundled with Moto Armour that is packed with products and accessories to protect the smartphone.
Coming towards the Moto Mods, the company has not revealed the entire details regarding the offer yet, which is expected to be debriefed at the time when the smartphone will be opened for pre-booking. The Moto Mods bundled with the smartphone include, Hasselblad True Zoom MOD, JBL SoundBoost MOD and Insta-Share Projector MOD.
To recall the specifications of Moto Z2 Play, the smartphone sports a 5.5-inch Full-HD (1080 x 1920 pixels) Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and is powered by a 2.2 GHz Snapdragon 626 octa-core processor. The device comes in two different variants, one with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage and another with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage. There’s also a microSD card slot for further expansion of storage. The smartphone runs on Android 7.1 Nougat.
The imaging department includes a 12 MP rear camera with laser and dual autofocus lens. At the front, there is a 5 MP selfie camera with Moto’s first dual CCT flash. As it was rumoured earlier, the smartphone packs a 3,000 mAh battery. For connectivity, the Moto Z2 Play has, 4G VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, USB Type-C and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
The smartphone is priced at $499 (Rs. 32,200 approx) in US and it is expected to be priced somewhere around this in India as well.
