Lenovo-owned Motorola has finally launched its highly rumoured and much awaited Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus smartphones. The smartphones come in as the successors of previously launched Moto G5, G5 Plus and hold upgraded cameras as compared to their predecessors. The Moto G5S is priced at 249 Euros (Rs. 18,850 approx.) and will be available in Lunar Gray and Fine Gold colors, whereas the Moto G5S Plus comes with a price tag starting at 299 Euros (Rs. 22,640 approx) and will be available in Lunar Gray and Blush Gold colors. The smartphones will hit the shelves in various countries globally starting this month, and will be available in the US this fall.
Both the smartphones, as rumoured hold a design similar to that of the Moto G5 series. The only difference in the design this time is that both, Moto G5S and G5S Plus come with a metal uni-body design. Apart from that, there is also an upgrade in the imaging department with the highlight being the dual rear camera setup on Moto G5S Plus. Both the smartphones run on Android 7.1 Nougat out-of-the-box.
Let’s take a look at the details of both the phones:
Moto G5S
Talking about the key specifications of the Moto G5S, the smartphone sports a 5.2-inch Full-HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. It is powered by a 1.4 GHz Octa-Core 64-bit Snapdragon 430 processor coupled with an Adreno 505 GPU. The device comes with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage which can be further expanded up to 128 GB with microSD card.
In the imaging department, the Moto G5S holds a 16 MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and PDAF accompanied with a dual-tone LED flash. There is also a 5 MP front camera for selfies and video calls. The smartphone packs a 3,000 mAh battery with Turbo charge which, as per the company, is capable of providing up to 5 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes. The smartphone has a fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button along with Water repellent nano-coating which makes the smartphone splash proof. The connectivity options include, 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS and NFC.
Moto G5S Plus
Coming down to the bigger version, the Moto G5S Plus sports a 5.5-inch Full-HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by a 2 GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 processor along with Adreno 506 GPU. The device comes in two variants, one with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage and another with 4 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage, where the internal storage can be expanded up to 128 GB via microSD card.
The camera department, which is the premium highlight of the smartphone, includes a dual camera setup at the rear with two 13 MP sensors with f/2.0 aperture. One out of the two is an RGB sensors and another is a Monochrome sensor. The rear camera is accompanied with a dual-tone LED flash and also comes with features like selective focus mode for portraits, adding blurred background effect, selective black and white coloring, replace background mode and 4K video recording support.
The smartphone similar to Moto G5S packs a 3,000 mAh battery with Turbo charge and is rated to provide around a day’s battery life. The Moto G5S Plus also comes with a fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button along with Water repellent Nano coating, making it splash proof. The connectivity options of the smartphone include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and NFC.
As mentioned earlier, the smartphone will be rolling out globally starting this month and it is expected to arrive in India around mid August. Also the prices of the smartphones are speculated to be much lower in India. As per a previous leak the Moto G5S Plus said to come with a price tag of Rs. 17,999.
