Motorola has finally started rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Moto G (2nd Gen) in India. The company had roll out a small-scale Marshmallow update soak test for users in India and Brazil back on 22nd January.
The Android 6.0 Marshmallow offers dozens of new features like Doze, Google Now on Tap, redesigned app permissions, Android Pay mobile payment system, and new fingerprint APIs for developers (not useful for Moto G 2nd Gen).
“We are excited to announce a new software update for Moto G (2nd Gen.) by Motorola. This update brings Android 6.0 Marshmallow to your phone along with other improvements. Android 6.0 Marshmallow improves your mobile experience with battery-smart features and new app permissions that give you even more control.”

Some of the features of these update are really extensive like App standby feature, that allows users to configure specific apps to use the new optimized mode, enabling them to run in a ‘reduced activity’ state when not in use which results into extended battery life. App permissions, which allows user to choose what permissions to allow and deny for each app during installation and many other features. However, Moto assist is said to be removed by the company, as Do Not Disturb feature performs similar function of what Moto Assist does.
So if Moto G (2nd Gen) users got excited to install Marshmallow update, but still haven’t received any notification. Then just go to Settings> About phone> System updates> “Yes, I’m in” on your phone and the software will be downloaded. After that select “Install now” and your phone will re-start automatically after installation is complete. Your phone will then be updated to Android 6.0.
For downloading the update, we recommend to download it over the WiFi connection.
