For giving the needed boost to the ‘Make in India’ campaign, country’s domestic smartphone manufacturers Micromax, Celkon, Karbonn and Lava have collaborated to develop mobile manufacturing units in Tirupati.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh laid the foundation of Sri Venkateshwara Mobile and Electronics Manufacturing Hub that will be set up in 122 acres. The facility will also get the support of several mobile accessories companies.
The officials have stated that the new hub will be creating 45,000 jobs and more mobile handset brands will co-locate their facilities over here.
The 122 acre land is divided amongst the four companies with Lava getting 20 acres, Celkon getting 20 acres, Micromax 15 acres and Karbonn having 15.28 acres for setting up their operations. The companies have targeted a goal of developing about 7 crore and more devices yearly.
