Mi Max 2 tipped to launch on September 12, new image leaked online

Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 2 is one of the exciting and fairly rumoured smartphone to look up for this year. We recently saw a concept video of the smartphone shared by its designer that showed ultra narrow bezel on one side of the phone. Although the CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun already confirmed that the Mi Mix 2 will be arriving later this year, we now might have a proper launch date for the smartphone.

As per the reports coming from China, the Mi Mix 2 could launch on 12th September which is also the rumoured launch date of the much awaited iPhone 8. If the rumour comes out to be true then it will be it will be interesting to see whether the next generation bezel-less smartphone from Xiaomi is able to steal the thunder of iPhone 8 or will it rather get overshadowed.

Apart from this, a leaked image of the smartphone also popped online revealing even more about the design of the smartphone. In the image, the Mi Mix 2 holds a similar design as the one shown in the concept video by Philippe Starck. The smartphone, similar to the concept video, shows almost no side bezels and even thinner upper and lower bezels as compared to that of its predecessor.

As per previous reports, the smartphone will offer a 93 percent screen-to-body ratio with a curved AMOLED display rather than using the LCD display like that of the Mi Mix. It is said to sport a 6.4 inch QHD (2540 x 1440 pixel) AMOLED display and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor clocked at 2.45 GHz which is quite possible with recently launched Mi 6 bearing the same.

The device is speculated to come in three different variants with 4 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage, 6 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage and 8 GB RAM along with 256 GB internal storage. The phablet will run on MIUI 9 based on Android 7.0 Nougat. Mi Mix 2 is rumoured to hold a 19 MP rear camera and a 13 MP front facing camera. The smartphone is also expected to bear an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor under the display but as the video doesn’t show the rear of the smartphone, it is still uncertain.
