Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus with innovative 1.9 inches Rear Secondary Display and Dual rear cameras launched

The Chinese smartphone maker Meizu has finally unveiled its highly rumoured flagships Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus smartphones. The smartphones were in talks from quite a while and their details were leaked on various occasions. One of the most exciting rumour about the smartphones was the dual display which indeed came out to be true and is the premium highlight of the Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus.

Both the smartphones hold dual Super AMOLED displays, one primary on the front and one secondary on the rear which comes in as an innovative move from the company. The secondary display is capable of showing notifications, time, weather, music etc. Apart from this, it can also be used as a viewfinder for capturing selfies using the rear camera.

Both, Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus hold a sleek and stylish design with almost no side bezels. However, the top and bottom bezels are thick to accommodate the front camera and the home button which embeds a fingerprint scanner within. As mentioned earlier, on the rear there is a 1.9 inches Super AMOLED display with 240 x 536 pixels resolution and 307 PPI pixel density. Both the smartphones run on Android 7.0 Nougat with Flyme OS 6 on top. The smartphones also feature WeChat and AliPay for online transactions which require barometric authentication.

In the imaging department, the Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus contain a dual rear camera setup bearing 12 MP IMX386 sensors each with f/2.0 aperture, 6P lens and PDAF. One out of the two sensors is a RGB sensor while another is a monochrome sensor. There is also a 16 MP front facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and 5P lens which comes with the ArcSoft beauty algorithm adaptive skin technology adding up to the selfie experience.

Coming down to the differences, the Meizu Pro 7 sports a 5.2-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) Super AMOLED display while the Pro 7 Plus sports a bigger 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display and also offers Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution. The Pro 7 comes in two different variants, one with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage which is powered by a 2.5 GHz MediaTek Helio P25 octa-core processor and another one with 4 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage powered by a 2.6 GHz MediaTek Helio X30 deca-core 10nm processor.

Talking about the Pro 7 Plus, it also comes in two variants with 6 GB RAM and 64 GB / 128 GB internal storage respectively. Here both the variants are powered by a 2.6 GHz Helio X30 deca-core processor coupled with PowerVR 7XTP-MP4 GPU. The Meizu Pro 7 packs a 3,000 mAh non-removable battery and supports mCharge 3.0 fast charging, while the bigger variant houses a 3,500 mAh battery and supports the latest 25W (5V/5A) mCharge 4.0 fast charging technology that charges the battery from 0% to 67% in just 30 minutes.

As far as the pricing is concerned, the smaller Pro 7 is priced at RMB 2,880 (Rs. 27,500 approx) for the 64 GB storage variant, where as the 128 GB storage variant comes with a price tag of RMB 3,380 (Rs. 32,300 approx). On the other the hand the 6 GB/64 GB variant of Meizu Pro 7 Plus comes at a price of RMB 3,580 (Rs. 34,200 approx.) and the 6 GB/128 GB variant is priced at RMB 4,080 (Rs 39,000 approx.). Both the smartphones will be available from 5th August and there is no word regarding the availability in other markets around the world. The Pro 7 comes in black, gold and red options while the Pro 7 Plus comes in space black, matte black, amber gold and crystal silver colors.
