Huawei Mate 9 Pro with 5.5-inch QHD display, leica dual-lens rear camera launched in China

Huawei, recently launched the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Porsche Design flagship smartphones at an event in Munich, Germany. Now, the company has launched a new smartphone, dubbed as the ‘Huawei Mate 9 Pro’ in China. The Mate 9 Pro is simply a more affordable Mate 9 Porsche Design with similar specs but without the Porsche Design branding upfront.

The Huawei Mate 9 Pro has an all-metal unibody design and curved 2.5D glass on the front. It comes with a 5.5-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) AMOLED display. It is powered by a 2.5GHz octa-core Kirin 960 processor, clubbed with ARM Mali-G71 MP8 GPU. The phone comes in two RAM options 4GB and 6GB with 64GB and 128GB of internal memory respectively.

Similar to the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Porsche Design, the Mate 9 Pro also packs a dual rear-camera setup which includes a 20MP Monochrome sensor and a 12MP RGB sensor with Leica lenses, f/2.2 aperture, dual-tone LED flash, PDAF, CAF, Laser AF, OIS, 4K video recording and an 8MP front-facing camera with f/1.9 aperture.

The dual sim smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat-based EMUI 5.0. It is backed by a 4000 mAh battery and support Huawei’s SuperCharge quick charge technology. Connectivity options include GPS, Bluetooth, USB OTG, 3G and 4G. It measures at 152 x 75 x 7.5mm.

The Huawei Mate 9 Pro has been priced at 4699 Yuan (approx. Rs 46,553) for the 4GB RAM+64GB storage variant and 5299 Yuan (approx. Rs 52,504) for the 6GB RAM+128GB storage variant in China. To recall, the Mate 9 was launched at a price of 699 Euros (approx. Rs 51,612) in Europe and the Mate 9 Porsche Design for 1395 Euros (approx. Rs 1,02,991). It comes in Champagne Gold, Space Gray, Mocha Brown, Moonlight Silver and Ceramic White colours.
