Huawei Mate 9 and Porsche Design Mate 9 with leica dual-lens camera and Huawei Fit announced

Huawei on Thursday unveiled its latest flagship smartphone, the ‘Huawei Mate 9’ along with its Porsche design limited edition and a fitness tracker Huawei Fit at an event in Munich, Germany. The highlights of the Huawei Mate 9 are the 2nd gen Leica dual-lens rear camera setup and the new AI feature which will learn the daily habits of the user and automatically put the most frequently used apps in easy reach.

The Huawei Mate 9 sports a 5.9-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) 2.5D curved glass display. It has an unibody aluminum design. It is powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 960 octa-core SoC with four Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. The processor is coupled with Mali G71 Octa-core GPU and 4GB of RAM.

On the photography front, it packs a dual rear camera setup which includes a 20MP Monochrome sensor and a 12MP RGB sensor with Leica lenses, f/2.2 aperture, dual-tone LED flash, PDAF, CAF, Laser AF, OIS, 4K video recording and an 8MP front-facing camera with f/1.9 aperture. It comes with 64GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card.

The hybrid dual-sim smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.0 on top. It is backed by a big 4000 mAh battery with fast charging support. The fingerprint sensor is mounted on the rear panel. The connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4GHz/5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS and NFC. It measures 156.9 x 78.9 x 7.9mm and weighs 190g.

The Huawei Mate 9 comes in Black, Space Gray, Moonlight Silver, Champagne Gold, Mocha Brown and Ceramic White colour options. It is priced at 699 Euros (approx. Rs. 51,605) and will roll out in China, Malaysia, France, Poland, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Italy, Spain, Japan, Thailand, Kuwait and UAE in the first wave of launches with other countries to follow soon.

The Porsche design limited edition of Huawei Mate 9 sports a 5.5-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) AMOLED 2.5D curved glass display. It comes with higher 6GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage with no card slot. The fingerprint sensor is mounted om the front. Rest of the specifications remain same with the standard Mate 9.

It comes in Graphite Black colour only and is priced at 1395 Euros (approx. Rs. 1,02,980) and will be available in the European Porsche Design Stores starting in late December. It will also be available in January 2017 at Porsche Design Stores worldwide (except USA), and select Huawei retail stores in Asia, Middle East and Europe.

The Huawei Fit is a watch-style fitness tracker with a round face and always-on monochrome touchscreen display. It will track steps, sleep and even monitor heart rate during workouts. It is also capable of notifying wearers about incoming calls and messages. It reaches full charge in less than two hours and can last for six days between charges with normal use and up to 30 days on standby.

The Huawei Fit will be available in silver or grey finish with an option of black, orange or blue straps. It has an 18mm strap and will be available from Best Buy, Amazon and Newegg starting at $130 (approx. Rs. 8700).
