Huawei Honor Play 5X with 5.5 inch FHD screen, 2/3GB RAM announced

After beating Xiaomi a few days ago, to become the leader in the Chinese smartphone market, Huawei has announced their new 4G smartphone under their Honor brand in China. The new Huawei Honor Play 5X comes with good specs and is expected to further strengthen the company’s  hold in the Chinese market.

The device boasts a 5.5 inch Full HD (1080×1920 pixel) IPS display with the unibody metal design having 72.5% screen to body ratio. The Honor Play 5X is powered by a 1.5GHz Octa-core Snapdragon 615 MSM8939 chipset coming along with Adreno 405 GPU supported with 16GB of internal storage that is expandable to 128GB by a microSD card. It will come in two variants with 2GB RAM version and 3GB RAM version along with a 3000mAh battery. The Honor Play 5X also inherits a fingerprint 2.0 sensor located under the rear camera and unlocks the device in just under 0.5 Sec.

As for the camera, it flaunts a 13MP rear camera with Sony/Samsung sensor, LED Flash, f/2.0 aperture and 28mm wide-angle 5P lens for better image quality. For selfies, it has a 5MP camera with f/2.4 aperture, 1.4 micron pixel size and 22mm wide-angle lens. For connectivity, it comes with Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and inherits Box speakers along with Smart PA audio chip to provide clear sound to the user.

The Huawei Honor Play 5X is available in Silver and Sunset Gold color options starting at 999 Yuan (approx. Rs. 10,000) for 2GB RAM variant and 1,399 Yuan (approx. Rs. 14,300) for 3GB RAM one. The device is currently available in China and will begin shipping from 3rd November. There is no word on its Indian availability.
