HTC has launched the Desire 820G+ in India yesterday, it is yet another variant of the Desire 820. The Taiwanese manufacturer has priced their new dual sim smartphone for Rs 19,990. It will be available in the colors Santorini White, Saffron Grey and Milky-way grey.
The HTC desire 820G+ has a 5.5 inch (720×1280) HD display powered by octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor clocked at 1.7GHz paired with 1GB of RAM. For storage, it has 16 GB of inbuilt memory and is expandable up to 32 GB via microSD card. The handset is backed by 2600mAh battery,
Desire 820G+ sports a 13 megapixel rear auto focus camera with LED flash and BSI sensor and claims to have a Full HD video recording capability and 8 megapixel front facing camera. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, FM radio, Bluetooth 4.0, GPRS/ EDGE, GPS/ A-GPS, 3G and Micro-USB. But the dual sim phone does not support 4G connectivity. It measures 157.7×78.74×7.74mm and weighs almost 155 grams.
HTC desire 820G+ runs on Android 4.4 KitKat while running company’s own Sense UI on top.
“Today I am excited to announce that at only Rs. 19,990 the HTC Desire 820G+ Dual SIM delivers one of the most features found with a smartphone at this price. With an outstanding user experience in a sleek, chic, slim and colorful package” said Faisal Siddiqui, President, South Asia, HTC.
From our point of view, the phone looks another mistake from HTC. It packs big numbers for camera but at 20,000 Rs, will one buy the phone only for camera or a user will require a more balanced performance and a better display? Surely only 1 GB RAM and the HD display (it should have been Full HD) are big disappointments, these look like one year old specs. Also when the public release of Android M is coming closer a new phone with the older Android Kitkat! Huh?
