Gionee has launched a new smartphone for this festive season, dubbed as Gionee S Plus, in India. It will be the company’s first smartphone to feature USB Type-C port. The device is price at Rs. 16,999 and will be available to buy in the next few days.
The Gionee S Plus comes with a 5.5 inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) Super AMOLED display, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Under the hood, it has 64-bit MediaTek MT-6753 processor clocked at 1.3 GHz, clubbed with Mali-T720 GPU and 3 GB RAM. For storage, it has 16 GB internal storage space, which is further expandable via microSD card. On the software front, it runs company’s own Amigo UI 3.1 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
The Gionee S Plus sports 13 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, while on the front it houses a 5 megapixel front facing camera. It is packed with a 3150 mAh battery with Fast Charging capability.
The Gionee S Plus is a dual SIM smartphone that supports 4G connectivity along with 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, USB Type-C. The smartphone will be offered in Dark Blue, White and Golden color variants.
Commenting on the launch, Timir Baran Acharyya, GM, Gionee India said, “In today’s fast paced time, the consumer needs and desires are evolving and they don’t want to compromise on the looks nor the specs of the device. Hence to bridge in the gap, we have introduced the all new S Plus especially in India this Diwali to meet all the expectations that our consumers are asking for. In fact, the all new S Plus is equipped with new features like Face Unlock that would help consumers unlock their device in less than a second.”
