Last month was pretty awesome for smartphone enthusiasts, as some great phones were launched last month along with the Mobile World Congress 2016 (MWC) event that was held in Barcelona, Spain, where many companies unveiled some futuristic phones. But what about this month? How many of them are going to hit the stores? Which phones are coming to India this month? Which phones are expected to be launched globally? 1. Apple iPhone SE:
Apple is said to launch its 4-inch smartphone dubbed as, Apple iPhone SE on March 21. The iPhone SE may feature NFC chip for Apple Pay, though it will lack the ‘3D Touch’ feature on it. It is said to be powered with A9 processor and may sport 12 megapixel rear iSight camera sensor, same as of iPhone 6s.
There is not much word on the new iPhone yet, we will get to know about its pricing and other detail on the launch event. Still, it is very unlikely that this smartphone will hit the Indian markets this same month. Apple may also launch 9.7 inch of iPad Pro along with smartwatch accessories at the event.
2. Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge:
After taking all the glory in basket at MWC 2016, Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will go on sale from March 11 in US and UK. Both the flagship smartphones are almost similar, except the screen size and battery. The Galaxy S7 features a 5.1 inch screen, while S7 Edge flaunts a 5.5 inch dual edge curved screen, but both with Quad HD Super AMOLED display. Similarly, the former is packed with a 3000mAh battery, whereas S7 Edge is backed by a larger 3600mAh display.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will be powered either Snapdragon 820 SoC or Exynos 8890 (in India), depending on the region. Other features include 4 GB RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, 12-megapixel ‘Dual Pixel’ rear camera, 5 megapixel selfie camera, ‘Always On’ display, fingerprint sensor and IP68 rating. The Galaxy S7 is priced at 699 Euro (approx Rs. 53,000) and S7 Edge is priced for 799 Euro (approx. Rs. 60,000), the smartphones are already up for pre-order in US and UK. Both the flagship smartphones will be launched in India on 8th March.
3. Redmi Note 3:
Yes, we know that this smartphone has already been launched, but it was just yesterday. Xiaomi has launched its much-awaited smartphone, Redmi Note 3 at an event in New Delhi, India with two variants, one with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage, and another with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage. The Redmi Note 3 features a 5.5 inch Full HD display, It is powered by Snapdragon 650 SoC, which is used for the first time in the world. It runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with MIUI 7 on top.
The Note 3 bears a 16 MP rear camera with dual LED flash and 5 MP selfie camera on board. It is packed with a beefy 4050 mAh battery and it is the first Mi phone to sport a fingerprint sensor. The full metal unibody smartphone has thickness of 8.7mm and weighs 164 g. The Redmi Note 3 is priced for Rs. 9,999 for 2 GB RAM variant, and Rs. 11,999 for 3 GB variant. 4. Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus:
After showcasing it at MWC 2016, Lenovo is all set to launch the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus in India on March 15. The Vibe K5 Plus features full meta unibody design with 5 inch Full HD display screen. It is powered by Snapdragon 616 SoC with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage space, expandable up to 32 GB with microSD card. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
The Vibe K5 Plus sports a 13 MP rear and 5 MP front camera. It is backed by 2750 mAh battery. The company is expected to price it around Rs. 10,000, though its exact price and availability will be known on launch day only.
5. Huawei P9:
As per its recent teaser, Huawei is planning to launch its flagship smartphone Huawei P9 on March 9 in Berlin, Germany. Till now, Huawei P9 has been spotted in many leaked images and rumors, but according to the recent rumors it may come with 5.2 inch Full HD display, Kirin 950 SoC, 3900mAh battery, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
The Huawei P9 is said to sport a 12 megapixels dual rear camera, fingerprint sensor and support of USB Type-C connectivity. The P9 will be available in various variants; P9 lite, a P9 phablet, standard P9, and P9 premium mode. However, there is no word on its pricing or availability yet.
