In India, despite the large population the internet penetration is low. And low is the adoption of faster internet services like 3G. And at such a time the even faster 4G services have been launched in India. The major 4G services providing telecom companies are Bharti Airtel and Reliance.
While Reliance Jio 4G services are yet to launch, the 4G services of Bharti Airtel had been launched in India in April 2012 in Kolkata and currently it is available in 15 major cities which are Amritsar, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Mohali, Nagpur, Nasik, Panchkula, Patiala, Phagwara and Pune.
Airtel has adopted the 4G technology at the early stages in India, and now when the Reliance Jio is ready to enter the market, Airtel has geared up to price its plans aggressively and has announced that it will provide 4G data packs at a lower price than its 3G data packs. Airtel has also announced that they will shift their existing 3G customers to the 4G network at the same prices.
Airtel claims that the 4G data packs they are providing are 10x-12x faster than that of any 3G data pack. The Airtel 4G services provide the lightning fast speed of up to 50 Mbps. The prices of the Airtel 4G data packs are as follows:
Airtel 4G packs:-
- 1GB @ Rs 250
- 4GB @ Rs 750
- 5GB @ Rs 850
- 10GB @ Rs 999
which are comparatively lower than that of its 3G packs which are mentioned below:
3G packs:-
- 1GB @ Rs 249
- 4GB @ Rs 749
- 5GB @ Rs 850
- 10GB @ Rs 1499
This is a smart move by Airtel to keep itself ahead in the competition. It currently holds a strong position to attract consumers by both the means of high-speed as well as reasonable tariffs.
Lets see how Reliance Jio comes forward to gain the 4G market share. It is for sure we are going to see the 4G tariff war in future, and ultimately it will be beneficial for the consumers. So, internet lovers have got all the reasons to cheer for!
