We consider hundreds of phones, from biggest to the smallest brands and come with our honest rankings every month.[/jumbotron] [section label=”1. Xiaomi Mi 5″] [label variation=”label-success”]On Top since April-16[/label]1. Xiaomi Mi 5:
After all the wait Xiaomi has finally launched its new flagship Xiaomi Mi 5 and as expected from the company, it’s yet another master piece. Starting with the design, the phone looks very beautiful, it has a metallic frame and 3D glass on the rear which is curved towards the edges, which gives a good grip and feel. The phone looks great from all the angles and feels premium, one can notice the attention to details. It packs a 5.15 inches Full HD screen with 428 ppi pixel density which has amazing display quality, while the Corning Gorilla Glass 4 covers both the front and rear glasses. If we talk about the performance, it is the first phone in India to come with Qualcomm’s latest flagship Snapdragon 820 processor, which is also currently one of the best processors in the world so, it goes without saying that you don’t need to worry about playing the heaviest of the games or doing heavy multitasking. It is paired with 3GB of RAM (Xiaomi Mi 5 also has a 4GB RAM variant but it is not launched in India) and Adreno 530 GPU. Moving on to another department where the Mi 5 excels, the camera, it comes with a 16 MP rear camera with Sony’s latest IMX298 sensor with PDAF, 4-axis OIS, f/2.0 aperture, dual-LED flash, Slow-mo videos @ 120 fps and 4K video recording, it also includes Sapphire glass cover for lens protection. On the front, it has a 4 MP camera with 2 micron pixel and f/2.0 aperture for selfie lovers. Beyond the specs, the picture quality of both the cameras is really very impressive, even the low-light photography on the Mi 5 is very good. The phone runs on Android v6.0 Marshmallow based MIUI 7. The Xiaomi Mi 5 comes with 32 GB internal storage (64 GB & 128 GB variants not launched in India) powered by UFS 2.0 which is faster than previous technologies but, it misses out on microSD card slot. It is dual sim phone with support for Indian 4G bands and VoLTE. It comes with fingerprint scanner integrated into the physical home button on the front, apart from locking the screen it also allows to lock apps and hide folders. It also comes with Type-C USB port, NFC and IR Blaster. The phone is backed by a 3,000 mAh battery with Quick charge 3.0 fast charging support. Despite a big battery and metal, glass body the phone weighs just 129 grams. Overall, the Mi 5 is truly a great flagship phone, while the 4 GB RAM variant is even better, the 3 GB RAM variant isn’t a bad choice either and it still stands ahead of the competition as a complete package and is currently the best smartphone under 25000 Rs in India.

[section label=”2. Asus ZenFone 3″] [label variation=”label-danger”]Newly Launched[/label]
2. Asus ZenFone 3 ZE520KL:
The Zenfone 2 series of Asus was a good hit in India and recently, Asus has launched its much awaited Zenfone 3 series of smartphones. The Zenfone 3 ZE520KL is one of the starting model in the Zenfone 3 line up apart from the Zenfone 3 Laser. When compared to the Zenfone 2, the Zenfone 3 comes with great improvements in the design department, both in terms of looks and build quality. It comes with a metal body and a 2.5D curved glass on the front and back, the metallic edges on the side are also rounded, which makes the phone very comfortable to hold. The back panel has concentric circle design, which gives a good glossy reflection when brought under light. It weighs at 144 grams and has a thickness of 7.7mm. Summing up the design, the Zenfone 3 packs excellent looks, great premium build quality and a comfortable to use design. It sports a 5.2 inches Full HD display which has a very good display quality. It has 600nits brightness which means the visibility under outdoor conditions or direct sunlight is good. The Zenfone 3 ZE520KL is powered by the 2.0 GHz Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 Processor designed with the 14nm process, which is advanced technology designed to improve performance, use lesser power and save battery. It is coupled with Adreno 506 GPU and 3 GB RAM and delivers excellent performance for every usage. Although, at this price the Snapdragon 820 processor was expected but still the Snapdragon 625 is also very good, obviously we cannot compare it with the Snapdragon 820 but still it will not disappoint you for heavy usage also. Coming to the camera, the Zenfone 3 packs a 16 MP rear camera with Sony’s latest IMX298 sensor (also used in Xiaomi Mi5), f/2.0 aperture, 4-axis OIS, 3-axis EIS, dual-LED flash and supports 4K video recording. Asus has also introduced TriTech AF which combines laser, phase detection and continuous auto-focus, which results in really fast auto-focus. It can capture really good quality images and gets full marks. The camera lens is also protected with Sapphire Glass. The 8 MP front camera is also very good. Also, Asus’s camera app is also very feature rich, it has lots of filters and modes and also includes a complete manual mode which lets you adjust the camera’s raw settings the way you want. The phone runs on the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with Asus’s ZenUI 3.0 running on top. The ZenUI comes with lots of added features and customizations. It has good speakers and a good fingerprint scanner situated at the back. It uses USB Type-C 2.0 for fast data syncing and charging. It is a dual sim phone with 4G support on both the slots. It packs 32 GB of internal storage which is expandable upto 2 TB with a microSD card, using a hybrid slot. It is backed by a non-removable Li-Ion 2650 mAh battery which delivers acceptable battery backup but a bigger battery would have made the phone much better. Overall, the Asus Zenfone 3 ZE520KL is a great phone, it packs great design, good performance, excellent cameras and all the latest features and delivers a true flagship like experience. A very good buy at this price. If you need a bigger screen, you can go with the Zenfone 3 ZE552KL with 5.5 inches screen, 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage, priced at Rs. 27,999.

[section label=”3. LeEco Le Max2″]
3. LeEco Le Max2:
LeEco has launched the successor to its older flagship Le Max as the Le Max2. Like the name, there are not many differences between the old and the new phones but it certainly packs great set of hardware specifications. The Le Max2 comes with a very well-built premium metallic design, which looks beautiful and at the same time feels good in the hands. It packs a big 5.7 inches Quad HD display with whooping 515 ppi pixel density. The display quality is amazing and specially when you play the 2k videos you will notice the difference but, at the same time, one should know that 2k videos/content is still not very popular in India, neither the internet speed/costs are good to allow you streaming it online so, don’t just pick the phone because it has the 2k display. It is powered by the latest and very powerful Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 820 processor paired with 4 GB of RAM. The performance is excellent for every type of usage, be it heavy gaming, multitasking or other graphics intensive usage, it handles everything well without any severe heating issue. The 21 MP rear and the 8 MP front camera of the Le Max2 are very good performers, the rear camera comes with OIS and can record 4K videos. The phone runs on the Android Marshmallow based company’s EUI, which is beautiful, customisable and easy to use although, it will take some time to get used to it. Another USP of the phone is, it uses the new CDLA (Continual Digital Lossless Audio) technology using the Type-C USB port for headphones ditching the traditional 3.5 mm jack. The audio quality is good. The phone includes fingerprint scanner, Infrared sensor and supports NFC. Like every LeEco phone, it also comes with the company’s ‘Supertainment’ package free for one year. It is a dual sim phone with 4G support and comes with 32 GB of internal storage but there is no memory expansion slot. The Le Max2 is backed by a non-removable Li-Ion 3100 mAh battery which has average battery backup although, it supports fast charging but, with the 2K display, a bigger battery would have been great. If we talk about the downsides, the lack of microSD slot can be a disappointment for some, while the missing 3.5 mm headphone jack can be seen in both ways, early adopters will like it while, traditional users will find it a little annoying at stages. Also, beware that you won’t be able to charge the phone and use the headphones simultaneously as, there is only one port for both the jobs. The phone with the weight of 185 grams also feels a little bulky. Overall, the LeEco Le Max2 is premium beautiful smartphone which performs like a beast and also has great display and cameras. It can be a good choice but, one of the phone’s USP is also its biggest downside so make sure you can live with it.

[section label=”4. Oppo F1 Plus”]
4. Oppo F1 Plus:
Oppo has recently launched its new flagship phone, the Oppo F1 Plus in India which, the company is touting as ‘Selfie Expert’. The USP of the phone is its 16 MP front camera which comes with a f/2.0 aperture lens. It can click some really amazing selfies with great depth both in normal and low light conditions, however low light selfies would have been the best if it also included a front flash but to compensate, it turns the screen white and uses ‘Screen Flash’ which does the job to some extent. The Oppo F1 Plus also allows to take Selfie Panorama and comes with ‘Beautify 4.0’ which makes your selfies even more beautiful. On a rare occasion, it packs a smaller than the front, 13 MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash, it also captures good quality images. Talking about the design, the Oppo F1 Plus looks inspired from the iPhone 6s to a great extent, whether you like this fact or not, it looks beautiful and feels very premium with its metallic unibody design and it has just 6.6 mm of thickness. The Oppo F1 Plus looks inspired from the iPhones from the inside as well, the Android 5.1 lollipop based Color OS 3.0 on which the phone runs has very similar icons and UI like the iPhones, again, it isn’t bad and looks beautiful. The phone packs a 5.5 inches Full HD AMOLED display protected with Gorilla Glass 4. It is powered by a 2 GHz Octa Core Mediatek MT6755 Helio P10 Processor coupled with 4 GB RAM, it delivers good performance and handles everything well but at this price, better processors are expected and if you are a hardcore gamer, you can give this a miss. It also includes a fingerprint scanner situated on the physical home button on the front below the screen, it is fast and accurate. It is a dual sim smartphone with 4G support. It packs 64 GB of internal storage which is further expandable upto 128 GB via microSD card. The phone is backed by a non-removable Li-Po 2850 mAh battery which comes with Oppo’s own VOOC Flash Charge, fast charging technology. At the same time, the phone misses out features like NFC and IR blaster which must be present at this price. Overall, the Oppo F1 Plus is a very good smartphone, it packs a great selfie camera, good premium design, decent performance and delivers a good complete experience and can be a good choice without doubts. However, if you love playing high-end games, there are better options at this price.

The phone has got a 13 MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, Laser Autofocus, OIS, & Dual-LED Flash, in-short the camera is really excellent! The 5 MP front camera is good as well. The phone comes with Fingerprint sensor that allows you to quickly unlock your device, it also comes with future-proof reversible Type-C USB Cable for charging and data transfer. The phone has a physical button on the side which allows you to toggle the phone into silent mode, just like the iPhones. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with the company’s own Oxygen UI running on top of it, the Oxygen UI looks almost similar to the stock Android UI but it comes with extra features and added capabilities. The phone is backed by 3300 mAh battery. Overall, the OnePlus 2 is still a very good smartphone, it is not only very powerful but, every aspect of the phone is thought in details so, it gives a great user experience as well. It is still a good value for money and you can go with it. OnePlus has launched the most awaited phone OnePlus 3 in India, so if you can increase your budget a little, you should go with the new OnePlus 3 priced at Rs. 27,999.

[section label=”6. Google Nexus 5X”]
6. LG Google Nexus 5X (16 GB):
Google has just refreshed its two years old and very popular Nexus 5 with the Nexus 5X. The new Nexus 5X brings in lots of new features and improvements over its predecessor. Starting with the design, it carries forwards the design language of the Nexus 5 and rather than looking muscular, it looks cute! The phone is built with plastic and has soft touch finish on the back which gives a good grip and feels good in hands. Summing up, the design and build quality is good but lot better options are available at the same price. It comes with a 5.2 inches Full HD (1080 x 1920 pixels) display with 423 ppi pixel density, protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The display of the phone is very good. The Nexus 5X is powered by a 1.8 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 Hexa Core Processor coupled with 2 GB RAM and delivers excellent performance. It runs on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow and being a Nexus device, it will be one of the few phones in the world to get the future Android updates for years. The Nexus 5X runs on the stock and purest form of Android which means there are no additional layers of UI & extra services downgrading performance and making your device slow. The Nexus 5X features a strong 12.3 MP rear camera with 1.55μm pixels, f/2.0 Aperture, 4K video recording, dual-LED flash & Laser Assisted Autofocus and clicks very good images. The 5 MP front cameras is decent too. The phone comes with a fingerprint scanner situated on the rear side just below the camera, it is fast and easy to use. It also comes with USB Type-C port for faster data transfer and quick charging. Sadly, it is a single sim device. The Nexus 5X comes with 16 GB and 32 GB internal storage options and again for a disappointment misses out on microSD slot. It is backed by a Non-removable 2700 mAh battery which gives average performance but the quick charging feature is upto the mark and charges the phone quickly. Overall, the Google Nexus 5X is a powerful future proof phone excelling in most departments and delivering great Android experience but, lack of expandable storage and dual sim might be deal breaker for many but, if you are okay with it, it is a good device to have in your pockets, Really! LG’s newly launched LG X Cam comes with Dual rear cameras and latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow, you can consider it also but, it is not worthy of its price.
[section label=”7. Sony Xperia M5″]
7. Sony Xperia M5 Dual:
The Sony Xperia M5 is Sony’s mid budget flagship! It comes with the usual premium design of Sony with glass on both the front and rear sides and aluminium frame. The phone is really very well-built with so much attention paid to details, it looks very beautiful and the glass back panel feels great but, it attracts fingerprints as well. It packs a 5.5 inches Full HD screen with Sony’s Mobile BRAVIA® Engine 2 and has very good display quality. The phone is powered by a 2 GHz Octa Core MediaTek Helio X10 Processor coupled with 3 GB RAM and delivers good performance, although better performing phones are available at this price. The Xperia M5 packs two great cameras, on the back, it has a 21.5 MP camera with 5x clear image zoom, 4K video recording capability and on the front it has a 13 MP selfie shooter. And if we are talking about a premium Sony phone, it is obvious that it will be water proof! The Xperia M5 comes with IP65 and IP68 ratings which means it is dust and water-resistant. The picture quality of both the cameras is amazing. It packs two front facing speakers which deliver rich sound output and are good for multimedia consumption. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with Sony’s beautiful Xperia UI on top. It is dual sim phone with 4G support. It packs 16 GB of onboard storage which is further expandable upto 200 GB with the help of a microSD card with a dedicated slot. The phone is backed by a non-removable Li-Ion 2600 mAh battery. If we talk about the shortcomings, the Sony Xperia M5 doesn’t include a fingerprint scanner which is a bit let down because nowadays phones starting even at Rs. 7,000 include a fingerprint scanner, another downside is that it still runs on Android Lollipop and hasn’t got the Marshmallow update. Overall, the Sony Xperia M5 is a very good smartphone with great design, display and cameras, it also packs decent performance and good multimedia experience; can be a good buying choice. If you want a bigger phone, you can also go with the 6 inches Sony Xperia C5 Ultra which also includes a 13 MP front camera with front flash.

I purchased Asus zenfone 3 and have been using it for the past 10 days, it feels like butter just like those flagship phones available in the market. The build quality and performance of the phone is extremely good in terms of charging speed, camera quality, gaming and other multimedia. The music quality of the phone is crystal clear and louder much better as compared to any other Samsung or Sony phone, oppo and Mi Max when connected on headphones.
