The phone looks great from all the angles and feels premium, one can notice the attention to details. It packs a 5.15 inches Full HD screen with 428 ppi pixel density which has amazing display quality, while the Corning Gorilla Glass 4 covers both the front and rear glasses. LeEco has launched the successor to its older flagship Le Max as the Le Max2. Like the name, there are not many differences between the old and the new phones but it certainly packs great set of hardware specifications. The Le Max2 comes with a very well-built premium metallic design, which looks beautiful and at the same time feels good in the hands. It packs a big 5.7 inches Quad HD display with whooping 515 ppi pixel density. The display quality is amazing and specially when you play the 2k videos you will notice the difference but, at the same time, one should know that 2k videos/content is still not very popular in India, neither the internet speed/costs are good to allow you streaming it online so, don’t just pick the phone because it has the 2k display. It is powered by the latest and very powerful Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 820 processor paired with 4 GB of RAM. The performance is excellent for every type of usage, be it heavy gaming, multitasking or other graphics intensive usage, it handles everything well without any severe heating issue. The 21 MP rear and the 8 MP front camera of the Le Max2 are very good performers, the rear camera comes with OIS and can record 4K videos. The phone runs on the Android Marshmallow based company’s EUI, which is beautiful, customisable and easy to use although, it will take some time to get used to it. Another USP of the phone is, it uses the new CDLA (Continual Digital Lossless Audio) technology using the Type-C USB port for headphones ditching the traditional 3.5 mm jack. The audio quality is good. The phone includes fingerprint scanner, Infrared sensor and supports NFC. Like every LeEco phone, it also comes with the company’s ‘Supertainment’ package free for one year. It is a dual sim phone with 4G support and comes with 32 GB of internal storage but there is no memory expansion slot. The Le Max2 is backed by a non-removable Li-Ion 3100 mAh battery which has average battery backup although, it supports fast charging but, with the 2K display, a bigger battery would have been great. If we talk about the downsides, the lack of microSD slot can be a disappointment for some, while the missing 3.5 mm headphone jack can be seen in both ways, early adopters will like it while, traditional users will find it a little annoying at stages. Also, beware that you won’t be able to charge the phone and use the headphones simultaneously as, there is only one port for both the jobs. The phone with the weight of 185 grams also feels a little bulky. Overall, the LeEco Le Max2 is premium beautiful smartphone which performs like a beast and also has great display and cameras. It can be a good choice but, one of the phone’s USP is also its biggest downside so make sure you can live with it.

The Nexus 5X is powered by a 1.8 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 Hexa Core Processor coupled with 2 GB RAM and delivers excellent performance. It runs on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow and being a Nexus device, it will be one of the few phones in the world to get the future Android updates for years. The Nexus 5X runs on the stock and purest form of Android which means there are no additional layers of UI & extra services downgrading performance and making your device slow. The Nexus 5X features a strong 12.3 MP rear camera with 1.55μm pixels, f/2.0 Aperture, 4K video recording, dual-LED flash & Laser Assisted Autofocus and clicks very good images. The 5 MP front cameras is decent too. The phone comes with a fingerprint scanner situated on the rear side just below the camera, it is fast and easy to use. It also comes with USB Type-C port for faster data transfer and quick charging. Sadly, it is a single sim device. The Nexus 5X comes with 16 GB and 32 GB internal storage options and again for a disappointment misses out on microSD slot. It is backed by a Non-removable 2700 mAh battery which gives average performance but the quick charging feature is upto the mark and charges the phone quickly. Overall, the Google Nexus 5X is a powerful future proof phone excelling in most departments and delivering great Android experience but, lack of expandable storage and dual sim might be deal breaker for many but, if you are okay with it, it is a great device to have in your pockets, Really!

The Sony Xperia M5 is Sony’s mid budget flagship! It comes with the usual premium design of Sony with glass on both the front and rear sides and aluminium frame. The phone is really very well built with so much attention paid to details, it looks very beautiful and the glass back panel feels great but, it attracts fingerprints as well. It packs a 5.5 inches Full HD screen with Sony’s Mobile BRAVIA® Engine 2 and has very good display quality. The phone is powered by a 2 GHz Octa Core MediaTek Helio X10 Processor coupled with 3 GB RAM and delivers good performance, although better performing phones are available at this price. The Xperia M5 packs two great cameras, on the back, it has a 21.5 MP camera with 5x clear image zoom, 4K video recording capability and on the front it has a 13 MP selfie shooter. And if we are talking about a premium Sony phone, it is obvious that it will be water proof! The Xperia M5 comes with IP65 and IP68 ratings which means it is dust and water-resistant. The picture quality of both the cameras is amazing. It packs two front facing speakers which deliver rich sound output and are good for multimedia consumption. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with Sony’s beautiful Xperia UI on top. It is dual sim phone with 4G support. It packs 16 GB of onboard storage which is further expandable upto 200 GB with the help of a microSD card with a dedicated slot. The phone is backed by a non-removable Li-Ion 2600 mAh battery. If we talk about the shortcomings, the Sony Xperia M5 doesn’t include a fingerprint scanner which is a bit let down because nowadays phones starting even at Rs. 7,000 include a fingerprint scanner, another downside is that it still runs on Android Lollipop and hasn’t got the Marshmallow update. Overall, the Sony Xperia M5 is a very good smartphone with great design, display and cameras, it also packs decent performance and good multimedia experience; can be a good buying choice. If you want a bigger phone, you can also go with the 6 inches Sony Xperia C5 Ultra which also includes a 13 MP front camera with front flash.

At 5.9 mm, it’s the slimmest phone from Samsung! It’s not only slim but it’s a full metal body stunningly beautiful smartphone. The Galaxy A8 has got a great build quality, a feat with which Samsung’s phone are not quite familiar! Although, it has got a plastic back panel, it’s good in quality and gives a good feel with the matte finish. The phone has got very slim bezels on the sides of a large 5.7 inches Full HD Super AMOLED display which has excellent quality. It is powered by 1.8 GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Processor, well at this price, you would for-sure expect a better processor than this but coupled with 2 GB RAM, it still delivers decent performance. Though for gaming and heavy multitasking, there are much better options at this price. Cameras have been the strength of Samsung for years and the 16 & 5 MP cameras of the Galaxy A8 belong to the same league. Both the cameras come with a f/1.9 aperture and capture excellent images. The front camera comes with Wide Selfie function which gives you a 120° view so, you can capture good group selfies. Samsung has also added Quick Camera Launch function to the Galaxy A8 which allows you to open the camera app in just 0.9 seconds by double pressing the home button. Another advantage with the phone is its Fingerprint sensor mounted into the home button. So, you just have to place your finger on the home key and your phone unlocks. It runs on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop based Samsung’s TouchWiz skin. It supports dual sim, 4G and comes with 32 GB of internal storage which is expandable upto 128 GB with the help of a microSD card but, it will use a sim slot. It houses a Li-Ion 3050 mAh battery which gives a good battery backup to the phone. Overall, it’s not the best performer but if you look at the premium slim design, good display and excellent cameras, the Galaxy A8 is a good package with the best after sales support so, if you are not after heavy usage it can be a good buy. If you want a little smaller screen the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) can be a very good alternative.

You can customize the actions easily from settings. It sports a 5.2 inches Full HD display with 424 ppi pixel density, the display quality is awesome. It runs on Huawei’s own Hisilicon Kirin 935 Octa Core Processor out of which 4 cores are clocked at 2.2 GHz and other 4 cores are clocked at 1.5 GHz. It features a 20 MP rear camera with Sony IMX230 sensor, PDAF (Phase Detect Auto Focus), fast-focussing technology and Dual LED flash. It also comes with an 8 MP front shooter with LED flash. Both the cameras are amazing. The phone comes with a very accurate fingerprint sensor which is great thing, it is located on the back, just below the rear camera. The Honor 7 comes with Android v5.0 Lollipop out of the box with Huawei’s own Emotion UI 3.1 running on top. The Emotion UI is beautiful and comes with many themes and customization options. A great downside to this 4G phone is, it is a single sim device. It comes with 16 GB internal storage which is expandable upto 128 GB via microSD card. It is backed by a non-removable Li-Po 3100 mAh battery which gives a good battery backup. Overall, the Honor 7 is a well designed powerful phone and can be a very good buying choice, just make sure you are comfortable with single sim.
