1. OnePlus 3:
OnePlus has launched its most awaited phone the OnePlus 3. Since the time the company’s last flagship phone – the OnePlus 2 was launched, many serious competitors like the Xiaomi Mi 5 were launched so, it was clear for OnePlus, to stay in the race it has to produce a phone which has to be much better than the competition and which stands as a clear winner for months. Now let’s see if the company has succeeded or not. For the first time, OnePlus, in its flagship phones has ditched the Sandstone finish back and came up with a full metal unibody design although, you get the Sandstone, Bamboo and all the other back finishes in the form of cases this time. Design wise, the OnePlus 3 is simple and elegant, the company hasn’t tried anything fancy. It sports a 5.5 inches Full HD display, disappointing many who thought it will be a 2k display this time but, we are quite happy with it, as 2k is still not mainstream in India and not to forget it uses more battery. It uses the Optic AMOLED display (built by Samsung) which is excellent and almost perfect, full marks in the display department. The OnePlus 3 runs on Qualcomm’s latest flagship Snapdragon 820 Processor paired with Adreno 530 GPU and 6 GB RAM. It is a beast in terms of performance, throw anything and it can handle it. It is currently one of the most powerful Android smartphones in the world. The OnePlus 3 features a 16 MP rear camera with Sony’s IMX298 sensor with 1.12 µm pixel size and f/2.0 aperture, it also comes with OIS. The camera has got good balance of everything and it can capture some really good quality images. The 8 MP front camera has also top-notch quality. The OnePlus 3 can also record 4K videos. The phone runs on latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow based company’s Oxygen OS which has a near stock Android UI, it just brings in few enhancements. The fingerprint scanner situated below the screen is ultra fast and accurate and works even when the screen is sleeping. The phone packs a 3,000 mAh battery which gives good battery backup but more importantly, it comes with Dash Charging (OnePlus’s fast charging technology) support which charges the phone from 0% to 60% in under 30 minutes without overheating the phone, which is just amazing. It is a dual sim phone with 4G support and comes with 64 GB internal storage but there is no microSD slot. Overall, the OnePlus 3 which has one of the best performances in the world, is a great complete package, it packs very powerful hardware and works efficiently with its stable software. It is near perfect in most departments and delivers all the latest flagship features at a very impressive price.

2. Asus ZenFone 3 ZE552KL:
The Zenfone 2 series of Asus was a good hit in India and recently, Asus has launched its much awaited Zenfone 3 series of smartphones. When compared to the Zenfone 2, the Zenfone 3 comes with great improvements in the design department, both in terms of looks and build quality. It comes with a metal body and a 2.5D curved glass on the front and back, the metallic edges on the side are also rounded, which makes the phone very comfortable to hold. The back panel has concentric circle design, which gives a good glossy reflection when brought under light. It weighs at 155 grams and has a thickness of 7.7mm. Summing up the design, the Zenfone 3 packs excellent looks, great premium build quality and a comfortable to use design. It sports a 5.5 inches Full HD display which has a very good display quality. It has 600nits brightness which means the visibility under outdoor conditions or direct sunlight is good. The Zenfone 3 ZE552KL is powered by the 2.0 GHz Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 Processor designed with the 14nm process, which is advanced technology designed to improve performance, use lesser power and save battery. It is coupled with Adreno 506 GPU and 4 GB RAM and delivers excellent performance for every usage. Although, at this price the Snapdragon 820 processor was expected but still the Snapdragon 625 is also very good, obviously we cannot compare it with the Snapdragon 820 but still it will not disappoint you for heavy usage also. Coming to the camera, the Zenfone 3 packs a 16 MP rear camera with Sony’s latest IMX298 sensor (also used in Xiaomi Mi5), f/2.0 aperture, 4-axis OIS, 3-axis EIS, dual-LED flash and supports 4K video recording. Asus has also intorduced TriTech AF which combines laser, phase detection and continuous auto-focus, which results in really fast auto-focus. It can capture really good quality images and gets full marks. The camera lens is also protected with Sapphire Glass. The 8 MP front camera is also very good. Also, Asus’s camera app is also very feature rich, it has lots of filters and modes and also includes a complete manual mode which lets you adjust the camera’s raw settings the way you want. The phone runs on the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with Asus’s ZenUI 3.0 running on top. The ZenUI comes with lots of added features and customisations. It has good speakers and a good fingerprint scanner situated at the back. It uses USB Type-C 2.0 for fast data syncing and charging. It is a dual sim phone with 4G support on both the slots. It packs 64 GB of internal storage which is expandable upto 2 TB with a microSD card, using a hybrid slot. It is backed by a non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery which delivers acceptable battery backup but a bigger battery would have made the phone much better. Overall, the Asus Zenfone 3 ZE552KL is a great phone, it packs great design, good performance, excellent cameras and all the latest features and delivers a true flagship like experience. A very good buy at this price. Asus has also launched a more compact Zenfone 3 ZE520KL with 5.2 inches screen at Rs. 21,999, you should go with it if you need a more comfortable phone.

[section label=”3. Moto X Style”]
3. Moto X Style:
Motorola is having a great run in the Indian market from last year, all of its phone have been hit since its comeback in India and the same is bound to happen with the new Moto X Style. Its name includes ‘Style’ so let’s talk about the design first. The Moto X Style comes with metallic sides and premium back covers which are available in different colors and textures like other Moto phones. The back of the phone is curved due to which it fits in perfectly in hands however it comes with a pretty large 5.7 inches screen but, Motorola has really reduced on the size of bezels around the screen so despite the bigger screen it only feels as big as a 5.5 inches phone. To finish with design, the phone looks similar to other Moto phones like the Moto X (2nd Gen) and the Moto Nexus 6 but, if you spare that, it is indeed beautiful. The 5.7 inches screen has a 2k (1440 x 2560 pixels) resolution with a great 520 ppi pixel density, the display quality is amazing. It is powered by the popular flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 Hexa Core Processor clocked at 1.8 GHz and paired with 3 GB RAM and delivers great performance. It comes with a 21 MP rear camera which is by far the best rear camera seen on any Moto phone till now, it features f/2.0 aperture, Phase Detect Auto-Focus (PDAF), Dual Color Correlated Temperature (CCT) flash, 4X digital zoom, Video Stabilization and 4K video recording at 30fps. The 5 MP front camera comes with f/2.0 aperture, Wide-Angle lens and a front flash, it is also good in picture quality. The Moto X Style is now upgradable to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It is a Dual Sim 4G enabled smartphone and comes with 16 GB and 32 GB internal storage options and is also expandable upto 128 GB. The Moto X Style is backed by a non-removable 3000 mAh battery but, the Quad HD display needs much more power and the phone disappoints a little in battery life, it can still run throughout the day with medium usage. But it comes with really fast Turbo Charging feature which the company says can charge the phone for use upto 8 hours in just 15 min of charging! The dual front speakers on the phone have rich & loud sound quality. It is also worth noting that, the Moto X Style doesn’t include a fingerprint scanner which is a disappointment. Overall, the Moto X Style is a powerful well designed phone with good cameras and Stock Android UI which will be upgradable for years. A complete package with great user experience, the Moto X Style, can be a very good buy. The powerful Moto Turbo can be a strong alternative.

[section label=”4. Google Nexus 5X”]
4. LG Google Nexus 5X (32 GB):
Google has just refreshed its two years old and very popular Nexus 5 with the Nexus 5X. The new Nexus 5X brings in lots of new features and improvements over its predecessor. Starting with the design, it carries forwards the design language of the Nexus 5 and rather than looking muscular, it looks cute! The phone is built with plastic and has soft touch finish on the back which gives a good grip and feels good in hands. Summing up, the design and build quality is good but lot better options are available at the same price. It comes with a 5.2 inches Full HD (1080 x 1920 pixels) display with 423 ppi pixel density, protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The display of the phone is very good. The Nexus 5X is powered by a 1.8 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 Hexa Core Processor coupled with 2 GB RAM and delivers excellent performance. It runs on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow and being a Nexus device, it will be one of the few phones in the world to get the future Android updates for years. The Nexus 5X runs on the stock and purest form of Android which means there are no additional layers of UI & extra services downgrading performance and making your device slow. The Nexus 5X features a strong 12.3 MP rear camera with 1.55μm pixels, f/2.0 Aperture, 4K video recording, dual-LED flash & Laser Assisted Autofocus and clicks very good images. The 5 MP front cameras is decent too. The phone comes with a fingerprint scanner situated on the rear side just below the camera, it is fast and easy to use. It also comes with USB Type-C port for faster data transfer and quick charging. Sadly, it is a single sim device. The Nexus 5X comes with 16 GB and 32 GB internal storage options and again for a disappointment misses out on microSD slot. It is backed by a Non-removable 2700 mAh battery which gives average performance but the quick charging feature is upto the mark and charges the phone quickly. Overall, the Google Nexus 5X is a powerful future proof phone excelling in most departments and delivering great Android experience but, lack of expandable storage and dual sim might be deal breaker for many but, if you are okay with it, it is a great device to have in your pockets, really! LG’s older flagship, the LG G4’s price is consistently falling from past few months and it is now priced close to Rs. 30,000, it can also be a good choice.

[section label=”5. Sony Xperia XA Ultra”]
5. Sony Xperia XA Ultra Dual:
Sony has recently launched a new phone in its new X series, the Xperia XA Ultra in India. When you hold the Xperia XA Ultra in your hands, you notice two things instantly, first it looks very premium and beautiful and second it’s very big in size. Talking about it’s design first, the Xperia XA Ultra comes with the traditional perfect design language of Sony. It has metal frame and good polycarbonate back. On the front, it has a 2.5D curved glass that blends perfectly with the sides and a great thing about the Xperia XA Ultra is that, it has really very slim bezels and the company’s claim of edge-to-edge display feels absolutely right. And due to it, the Xperia XA Ultra looks very beautiful. Next, talking about its size, it sports a massive 6 inches screen with Full HD display and 367 ppi pixel density, the display quality is decent but could have been better. A 6 inches phone is not meant for all types of users but those who have high multimedia consumption will love it. The phone with 8.4 mm thickness is not very thick but with the weight of 202 grams it feels heavy, although due to its good design the phone still feels comfortable in hands but one handed usage is not comfortable at all. The next big thing in the Xperia XA Ultra is its cameras, it packs a 21.5 MP rear camera and boasts of a 16 MP selfie shooter, it includes a single LED flash for both the front and rear cameras and also includes a dedicated physical shutter button. The rear camera clicks beautiful images with good depth and saturation and scores full marks whereas, the front camera which also includes OIS is also a good shooter, it also clicks good selfies in low light conditions. Talking about the performance, the Xperia XA Ultra is powered by the 2 GHz MediaTek Helio P10 Octa Core Processor coupled with 3 GB RAM, although the processor delivers decent performance but still, at this price a better processor is expected. However, the phone runs smoothly, the Android 6.0.1 based Sony’s Xperia UI is very beautiful and runs lag free, it also handles gaming well. It is a dual sim phone with 4G support and packs 16 GB of internal storage which is expandable upto 200 GB. The phone is backed by a Li-Ion 2700 mAh battery, which has average battery backup. For a phone which is intended towards multimedia consumption, great battery life is must. The phone at this price, also doesn’t include the Fingerprint scanner or the IR blaster. Overall, the Xperia XA Ultra has its own sets of pros and cons, it has great cameras and an almost bezel less premium design but, a better processor, a bigger battery and sensors like the fingerprint scanner would have made it great. And the huge 6 inches screen won’t be perfect for most but will be great for its intended users. It still is a pretty good phone and can be bought for its advantages. Sony’s last year’s flagship, Xperia Z3 Plus is also available under Rs. 30,000, it still is a very good phone and if you want a more compact phone, you should go with it.
