Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Jio has been in news since the launch on 5th September for everyone. With most of the people still waiting to get their hands on a Reliance Jio Sim, the company is facing some serious issues over voice calls connectivity with other incumbent operators.
Today, Reliance Jio has again hit on the incumbent operators, accusing them of not providing enough interconnect points which has led to over 10 Crore call drops in a single day, on a daily basis. Despite of repeated reminders from last 15 days, the incumbent operators like Airtel, Vodafone India and Idea Cellular have not provided required interconnect points to Reliance Jio.
Reliance Jio accused other incumbent operators of trying to hinder its business in violation of telecom licence conditions and TRAI regulations. The call failure rate has been worsening rapidly in the last few days, while augmentation of interconnection capacity is still awaited, accused Reliance Jio in a statement. With a need of 4,000 – 5,000 E1s per operator for the three incumbent operators, the actual points provided are 2,000 by Airtel, about 1,500 by Vodafone India and close to 1,600 by Idea Cellular, as per the company.
On the other hand, the incumbent operators are claiming to provide enough interconnect points to Reliance Jio for its smooth operations. Few days before, Reliance Jio also accused the incumbent operators over Mobile Number Portability (MNP). According to Reliance Jio, most of the porting requests to the three operators are still getting rejected for uncorroborated reasons.
Reliance Jio is still in its beta testing phase till 31st December 2016. Up till then the company needs to resolve all issues in order to work smoothly in future.
