Lenovo Vibe X3″] [label variation=”label-success”]On top since Feb-16[/label]1. Lenovo Vibe X3:
Lenovo is on a roll in India, it was ruling the 7k & 10k smartphone segments for quite long and lately it also gained a solid presence in the 15k & 25k smartphone segments, 20k was the only segment where an amazing Lenovo phone was missing and with the launch of the new Lenovo Vibe X3 in India this gap is also filled now. The Vibe X3 features a very premium beautiful design, it has got high quality aluminium frame and chamfered edges. The back of the phone is built from a very soft high quality polycarbonate which feels really good in hands. It sports a 5.5 inches Full HD (1080 x 1920 pixels) display with 401 ppi pixel density, the display quality is really very good. The Vibe X3 is powered by the powerful and popular Snapdragon 808 Hexa-Core Processor which is usually seen in high-end phones, it is paired with 3 GB RAM and Adreno 418 GPU and delivers excellent performance, it is lag free for everyday usage and also plays heavy games smoothly, also there is no heating issue. It also includes a 21 MP rear camera with Sony’s IMX230 sensor with 6 piece lens and f2.0 aperture, it is supported by Dual-LED flash. The picture quality of the rear camera is very good, the camera app also includes lots of options and also the pro mode. It is also capable of 4K Video recording. The 8 MP front camera is also very good. It has a very fast and accurate fingerprint scanner situated on the back. The Vibe X3 features two front facing Dolby Atmos speakers (placed above & below the screen) which have very good sound quality. It comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box with Lenovo’s new Vibe UI 3.0 running on top. In the version 3.0, Lenovo has quite improved its Vibe UI, it now comes with more features and also includes the option to arrange your icons in an App drawer like Stock Android. It supports dual sim but has hybrid slots so at a time you can either use second sim or the microSD card. It has 32 GB internal storage and supports microSD cards upto 128 GB. The phone also has additional connectivity options like NFC and Infrared Blaster. The phone is backed by a big 3500 mAh battery which supports quick charging. Overall, the Lenovo Vibe X3 delivers all the excellent features of a flagship phone, be it the premium design, powerful performance, great cameras or great multimedia experience. It is definitely the best phone under 20000 Rs. but it can also be a good choice if you have a budget around 25-30k. If you want professional level camera in a smartphone, you can also go with the Lenovo Vibe Shot which comes with 16 MP camera with infrared autofocus, 6P lens, OIS, 16:9 BSI sensor, tricolor LED flash, dedicated shutter button and all the Pro settings. If you need a very large battery backup, you can also go with the Lenovo Vibe P1 Turbo, which also comes with good specs & good design.

[section label=”3. Moto X Play”] [label variation=”label-success”]Topped this list for 5 months (Sep-15 to Jan-16)[/label]
3. Moto X Play:
Motorola has understood the Indian market really well, it knows how to produce great phones without stuffing them too much. The new Moto X Play sports a 5.5 inches 1080p Full HD display which turns out the pixel density of 403 ppi, the screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and the display quality is very good. Design wise, the phone looks beautiful & has got a good build quality. It also comes with water-repellent nano coating. It runs on the 1.7GHz Snapdragon 615 Octa-core CPU coupled with Adreno 405 GPU & 2 GB RAM & delivers decent performance but if you need a phone for gaming, it will be better to go with Zenfone 2. The phone has got a whooping 21 MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, Phase Detect Auto-Focus (PDAF) and Color Correlated Temperature (CCT) dual LED flash. The camera app comes with features like 4X digital zoom, auto HDR, burst mode, night mode, panorama, and Drag to focus & exposure. It can record 1080p HD videos at 30fps, it can also record slow motion videos and supports video stabilisation. All these features make Moto X Play the best camera smartphone under 20000 Rs. The phone also sports a 5MP front camera. It runs on the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with stock Android UI, a good thing about Moto phones is that they continue to get latest Android updates faster than most flagship phones. Another great thing about the phone is its 3630 mAh battery which offers very good battery life & supports quick charging. But still, if high performance is what you want there are better phones in this list. Those planning to buy the Moto X Play can also go with the new Moto G4 Plus at Rs. 14,999, it includes fingerprint scanner and very good specs. [section label=”4. Creo Mark 1″]4. Creo Mark 1:
Creo, the new smartphone manufacturer based in India has launched its first smartphone the Creo Mark 1. The USP of the phone is the software on which it runs, which is the Fuel OS based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The Fuel OS is the heavily customised version of Android and includes lots of interesting features like Sense (allows you to access anything like music, contacts, etc. in two steps, right from the homescreen), Retriever (if your phone is stolen and a new sim is inserted, it sends an email to you with the no. of the inserted sim, and it works without internet and also after factory reset), Echo (in-built answering machine) and there are lot more. The company also promises to deliver new updates every month which will add new features to the phone, users can also suggest a feature to the company and if their idea is approved, it will be included in the upcoming updates and the user will get credit for that feature. If the UI is concerned, it resembles the stock Android UI. The phone has got a metal body and glass back, it is well built, looks good and feels premium. The company is also allowing users to have their custom engraving on the phone. If we talk about the hardware, it packs some strength here as well. It sports a 5.5 inches 2k display (2560 X 1440 pixels) which has very good quality. The Creo Mark 1 runs on the 1.95 GHz Octa Core MediaTek Helio X10 Processor coupled with 3 GB RAM and performs well for heavy usage also. It comes with a 21 MP rear camera with Sony’s IMX230 sensor and clicks good quality images, on the front, it comes with an 8 MP selfie camera with 86 degree wide-angle lens which also produces good images. It is dual sim smartphone with 4G support and comes with 32 GB internal storage which is expandable upto 128 GB with the help of a microSD card but uses a hybrid slot. It is backed by a non-removable Li-Ion 3100 mAh battery. Few things, which go against of the Creo Mark 1 is the unavailability of the Fingerprint scanner and at 190 grams it feels heavy. Overall, the Creo Mark 1 adds some very unique features to Android and improves the user experience to a great extent, it also involves you in the development of its ever evolving software and keeps you at centre of it. It can be a good choice.
[section label=”5. Nextbit Robin”] [label variation=”label-danger”]New[/label]
5. Nextbit Robin:
Nextbit Robin, the cloud based phone, first started as a Kickstarter project and after few months of its global launch, it is now launched in India. ‘Robin’ is the name of the phone and ‘Nextbit’ is the company which manufactured it. The phone promises some innovative new features like the Cloud integration, which could be the tech of future but before coming to it, let’s first see what all it packs. The Nextbit Robin is a distinct stand out phone right from its design. It has a rectangular body made up of plastic and it comes in some interesting color options and has a thickness of just 7mm. The built quality of the phone is excellent, the plastic used is soft and gives a great feel when you hold this phone in hands. The design language is very different from other phones present in the Indian market. It sports a 5.2 inches Full HD screen which has good display quality. It is powered by the 1.8 GHz Snapdragon 808 Hexa Core Processor coupled with 3 GB RAM and delivers pretty good performance. It features a 13 MP rear camera which has an above average quality and the 5 MP front camera has decent picture quality. It runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow based Nextbit OS which is deeply integrated with the cloud, which is the highlight of the phone. The User Interface is close to stock Android, however the company uses its own icons. The phone has 32 GB internal storage but doesn’t come with a microSD slot, instead it comes with 100 GB free cloud storage which is its USP. The Cloud integration is interesting, what it does is, it automatically backs up you pics and apps in the cloud when your internal storage starts filling up. Important thing is, when it backs up a photo in the cloud, it deletes the original photo and leaves a low resolution image in your gallery and when you open it, it downloads the original image from the cloud. Same with the apps, it allows you to archive less used apps in the cloud and leaves a grey icon of the app in your phone, when you open an archived app, it takes a little time and downloads the app’s data into your phone and you can use the app from where it was, the company claims that you can free up a lot of space by archiving the apps. Well, this cloud mechanism sounds good and the thing of the future but in a country like India where even the average broadband speed is pretty poor this dependency on the internet does not sound cool, it may leave you with some frustrating moments. The phone includes a fingerprint scanner integrated with the power button situated on the side. The Robin packs two front facing speakers which deliver very good and loud sound. The bad thing about the phone is that it is a single sim device, also it has a smaller 2680 mAh battery which has average battery backup. Although it includes the USB Type-C port for fast charging. And before you jump in to buy the phone, you must know that the company currently has no service centres in India and if anything goes wrong and you need a repair/replacement you need to send the device to San Francisco to get the job done! Overall, the Nextbit Robin with its cloud based approach, good performance and a different and interesting design is a good unique smartphone although, very few users in India will be actually able to use its cloud based features but, even if you forget the cloud and use it as a normal phone it still is a good device but, as the company has no service centres in India you are all on your own so, better stay away unless you have madly fallen in love with the phone!
